 A equipe de judô da Secretaria Municipal de Esportes e Lazer (Smel)/Bunkyo de Mogi das Cruzes conquistou mais um título por equipes, o 12º da temporada 2009. Os judocas mogianos subiram ao lugar mais alto do pódio no 5º Meeting Interestadual Interclubes, categorias infantil e infanto juvenil, realizado em Florianópolis, Santa Catarina. O evento, realizado no último final de semana, foi organizado pela Federação Catarinense de Judô (FCJ).
Com 60 pontos na contagem geral, os comandados do técnico Paulino Namie trouxeram na bagagem mais 10 medalhas, sendo seis de ouro, duas de prata e duas de bronze. O Sport Club Corinthians Paulista ficou na segunda colocação, enquanto a Lemanczu, do Paraná, terminou em terceiro.
A competição reuniu jovens atletas de 50 associações de São Paulo, Paraná, Rio Grande do Sul e Santa Catarina. Para coroar ainda mais a conquista, os atletas da Smel/Bunkyo conquistaram o primeiro lugar nas duas categorias.
No infantil (9 e 10 anos), Gabriela Crement (leve) e Agnes Fernandes Mota (meio pesado) asseguraram a medalha de ouro. Vinícius Hiraki (meio leve) ficou com a prata. Já João Carlos Santos (super ligeiro) e Fernanda Batista (ligeiro) terminaram com o bronze.
A participação de Mogi na categoria infanto juvenil foi ainda melhor. Os judocas Thayra Thatyane Resende (leve), Ainde Dalete Schimidt (meio pesado), Nykson Roberto Carneiro (meio leve) e Tácio Henrique Santos (leve) subiram ao lugar mais alto do pódio para receberem a medalha dourada. O peso pesado Joaquim Miranda Neto ficou com a prata.
De acordo com o técnico Paulino Namie, o segredo do sucesso de Mogi nas competições realizadas na temporada é a dedicação dos atletas, que treinam diariamente no Centro Esportivo do Socorro.

A equipe do Judô Clube de Mogi das Cruzes terminou na quinta colocação do V Torneio Takayama de Judô, realizado no último domingo, na cidade de Jundiaí. Ao todo, o time mogiano conquistou 14 medalhas, sendo sete de ouro, seis de prata e uma de bronze.
As medalhas douradas do Judô Clube foram garantidas por Matheus Júlio de Oliveira (mirim-leve), Fábio Tetsuo Yamamoto (infanto juvenil-leve), Eiki Inui (juvenil-leve), Rafael Wakio Yokota (juvenil-médio), Celso Kiyoshi Yamamoto (juvenil-meio leve), Thaynnara Bezerra (pré-juvenil-médio) e Marina Minako Maruyama (juvenil-meio pesado).
